The Old Smiddy Cottage and Apartment

Located within and forming part of the boundary of Scotland First National Park, the Old Smiddy Cottage is built over Ballagan burn. The waters of Ballagan burn run down to meet the waters of Loch Lomond and we also have a beautiful Apartment attached  to the original Blacksmiths House which offers an ideal base to enjoy Loch Lomond and the surrounding area.

Both charming premises are equipped to the highest standards with beautiful tartan carpets, the Cottage having Black Watch and the Apartment having the Lindsay tartan.  Both Cottage and Apartment have gas central heating and double glazing and share a private patio where guests can relax and enjoy the serene sound of Ballagan burn along with the wild ducks. We also have our own Smiddy hens where fresh eggs can be supplied at your request. Private parking is available large enough to accommodate a car and boat and we provide free WI FI for all of our guests.

The Old Smiddy is the ideal base for a self catering holiday in Scotland, Stirling and Glasgow, we are a half hour drive away,  Edinburgh and Perth one hour, and much of Argyll, Perthshire, Ayrshire and South East Scotland is accessible in less than two hours.

For those who do not wish to venture too far there are many wonderful scenic drives, walks and attractions close to the cottage and apartment. Only a short drive or bus journey will take you the edge of Ben Lomond  and the West Higland Way.

Close by there is

  • Sailing
  • Golfing,
  • Fishing,
  • Water ski-ing
  • Horse riding facilities

Our aim is to ensure that your stay is a memorable one and we are happy to answer any questions that you may have. To ensure maximum comfort for all who visit, we regret that we are unable to accept pets.
